Commerce7 for Wineries: What It Actually Costs

Commerce7 migrates your data in-house, often for free. It doesn’t design your site, build your wine club experience, or connect your tasting room. Enter your own page, club, and product counts below to get an estimate built the same way we scope these projects for clients.

A note from Blue Otter, for wineries evaluating Commerce7

The install is easy. The site isn’t the install.

Commerce7’s own onboarding handles your data migration in-house, often for free. What it doesn’t do: design your site, build your club experience, or connect your tasting room. Here’s what actually goes into a real Commerce7 launch, and a number to plan around.

What we found

Three things worth knowing before you commit

Checked directly against Commerce7’s own pricing, onboarding docs, and its published partner network — not our sales pitch.

01

“Free migration” means data, not design

Commerce7 migrates WineDirect accounts in-house at no cost — but that’s your orders, customers, and club records. It says nothing about your site’s design, content, or the club/tasting-room experience your customers actually see.

Coming from anywhere but WineDirect costs real money

Migrating from Shopify, VinSuite, or a custom site through Commerce7 directly runs $750–$3,000 depending on plan tier — and Commerce7’s own docs note no data cleaning and no multi-source consolidation at that price.

03

Commerce7 runs its own partner network for a reason

Commerce7 maintains an official Design Partner and Developer Partner program specifically because the platform ships as infrastructure, not a finished website. Every one of those partners exists to build the part Commerce7 doesn’t.

Rough counts are fine — every field stays editable. This reflects real, current pricing from Commerce7 and its partner network, not invented numbers.

How to read this: this is a planning tool, not a quote — every default is a reasonable starting assumption until you enter your own numbers. It covers the design/build/integration work around Commerce7; it does not include Commerce7’s own monthly platform fee ($59–$149+/mo depending on plan) or payment processing fees, which you pay directly to Commerce7. Blue Otter can turn this into a firm, itemized quote once we’ve looked at your actual site and club structure.

The long version

Before you commit, verify this yourself

Same diligence we’d run before quoting a real number — generalized so you can sanity-check it against your own situation first.

Where the deadline comes from

This isn’t an optional upgrade if you’re on WineDirect

Commerce7 acquired WineDirect in January 2025 and is sunsetting the platform — existing WineDirect wineries have to move to Commerce7 or elsewhere on a real timeline, not whenever it’s convenient. That’s the one piece of this that isn’t a sales pitch: if you’re on WineDirect today, the clock is already running.

What to check
Ask your WineDirect rep (or Commerce7, since they now own it) for your account’s specific sunset date. That date drives how much runway you actually have to plan the design/build work — separate from the data migration itself, which Commerce7 handles on its own schedule.
What “easy installation” actually covers

The platform is easy. The customer-facing site is a separate project.

Commerce7’s onboarding is genuinely good at what it does: a dedicated specialist, step-by-step guides, and in-house data migration for WineDirect accounts. None of that produces a finished website. You still need page design, your wine club packaging and messaging, product photography and copy loaded in, and — if you sell in a tasting room — POS and reservations wired up. That’s the part every Commerce7 partner agency (and this calculator) is actually pricing.

The decision, not the sales pitch

Who should build custom vs. template

  • Template fits fineSmall catalog, standard club structure, brand isn’t the differentiator yet. Template-based Commerce7 builds run roughly $500–$3,000 depending on page count.
  • Custom pays for itselfDistinctive brand, complex club/allocation logic, or a site that’s currently your best salesperson. Custom builds start around $4,500 and scale with integration complexity.
  • Coming from WineDirect specificallyYour data migration is likely free through Commerce7 — budget for the site and club work, not the data move, since that part isn’t the expensive one.
